How to Stop Caring What Others Think: A Guide to Living Your Best Life

How to Stop Worrying What People Think of You

Have you ever thought about how worrying about what others think of you controls your life? How can you stop worrying about what people think of you?

I’d love to share four clear, simple techniques to be worry-free.

What are the four simple ways to stop worrying about what people think?

1. Stop caring about someone else’s business

When we worry about what other people may think of us, we’re actually in their minds, caring about their business.

We tend to make up a story about how others may think of us in our minds. This storyline may be true or false. However, the inability to confirm the story, which usually is negative, can harm us more than we know.

Hence, we need to be minding our own business. In other words, we may be trying to avoid dealing with our thoughts and emotions. Or, we cannot take care of our mental and physical well-being by minding someone’s business.

2. Accept that people judge all the time

Accept that people will judge you. We’re not debating whether judging is right or not here. But we focus on finding the acceptance in people’s natural tendency to judge.

What would happen to you if you began to accept that people will judge anyway, no matter what you do? The acceptance will diminish the worry about what people think of you.

3. Stop judging yourself

Negative self-talk can be more harmful than ever. You’ll start worrying about people doing similar things if you judge yourself.

Hence, by letting go of negative self-talk and the judgment of others, you’ll feel at ease with yourself. The worry about what other people think of you will slowly disappear.

4. Value yourself and others equally

Nobody is greater than you, and nobody is lesser than you.

What other people think of you has nothing to do with your worth. You are worthy because you exist. Your sense of worth comes from you.
