Are you a high-achievers who strive to do great things but faces the challenge of being burnt out? How can you do more without overextending yourself?
Recently, I experienced great burnout due to several reasons. With the COVID-19 pandemic and so many things happening around us, it’s understandable that we might have experienced burnout.
Hence, I want to share this short article with you, which is the note I took from Greg Mckeown’s lecture on “Getting effortless results without burning out.”
I hope the five tips can help you change your life to be more productive and joyful!

Five tips that can change your life.
Tip 1. Invert how you think.
Instead of asking, “How can I work harder to get a better result?” ask, “How can I make things easier to get a better result?”
Easy does not make equal lazy.
When do you need to invert?
It’s whenever you are putting a lot of effort into something. Just pause and say, well, is there an easier way to do it? Whenever you feel that you are trying too hard, straining, forcing something, pause. Is there an easier way to do this? So in matters small or large, you can invert the problem by asking a different question.
Tip 2. Limit the nonessential.
Have a list of things you need to do during the day that makes you feel satisfied at the end of the day.
When you’ve done all of the tasks, you are done after that is the time for relaxation.
The relaxation ritual is very important as it helps you prepare for the next day. So you can do your best for the next day’s list.
If we want to become limitless, the key, paradoxically, is to limit what we do.
Tip 3. Have a steady pace to create effortless results.
To avoid burnout, find a sustainable pace to maintain to achieve your goals.
The rule of thumb to follow here is:
Do not do more today than you can completely recover from by tomorrow.
Because you want to continue performing again and again on the important things and to do that effortlessly without burning out.
Tip 4. Simplify to the essence by eliminating steps.
You could avoid complicating tasks by thinking about achieving your goal in 1 step. Ask yourself the following question – Is there a one-click solution to what I’m trying to achieve?
And so the rule that you can apply immediately is just because that’s the way we’ve done it in the past doesn’t mean that’s the way we need to do it in the future. You want to simplify everything. Pare it down to the minimum possible steps. And the fastest way to do that is to start with zero.
Tip 5. Leverage learning and teaching to create exponential impact.
Have you ever dreamt of getting the results without additional effort?
It’s more achievable than you may think.
You want to achieve a residual result rather than a linear result. The linear result is that you must put in one effort to get one result.
However, the residual result is different. In the beginning, you may need to put in a little more effort, such as a system.
Create a system that requires effort but works for you over time.
For example, you can do a task or outsource it to someone else after training them.
Next time you’re trying to think about the steps in a process, don’t just think through all the steps. Relieve yourself of that burden by creating a checklist. So that next time, you don’t have to create that mental exertion to make that thing happen. It flows.
The bottom line is to continuously follow a process or have a way to automate it.
Bonus Tip. Gratitude
The above five tips work wonders to help you achieve results effortlessly. However, the bonus item – gratitude- is extremely important to make your life productive and much more fulfilling.
Life is hard for so many people most of the time. Sometimes, we unknowingly make it harder.
Instead of adding a burden to the challenges, we focus on what we already have.
If you focus on what you lack, you will lose what you have. If you focus on what you have, you will gain what you lack.
The idea helps us maintain a good state of mind to achieve greater results. The gratitude makes it so effective for you to overcome the hardship.
